We took a weekend trip in the end of June to Lake Powell. Chad has been wanting to go there since we moved out here. It was an eventful three days. First we left Saturday afternoon and got to LP after dark. We had an idea where we wanted to stay but that was completely full. We did camp there but there were so many goat heads and we weren't close to the water so it was not ideal. Going down there we knew the Saturday night and Sunday were going to be windy and the high only about 82 but we went anyway.
Sunday we head out on the lake with the idea that we would find a nice sandy beach to camp on. HAHA. Every one we found was taken by numerous people. We finally found a verrryy small spot and started setting up camp. After we set up the wind started blowing even harder and Chad and I started seeing dark clouds. We decieded that we probably should just pack up and head on into Waeweep camp ground for the night. The kids played and had fun in the sand while we hung out there. Once the wind really started blowing then it broke my new shade awning, and Madi's pillow blew into the lake twice. (Luckily it floats). We packed up the boat once again and head back to the marina. On our way there the wind was blowing so hard that the tube we had tied to the back of the boat popped up at snapped three of our fishing poles. Second, the wind was blowing so hard we decided to pull into a little cove and wait for it to die down. The girls and I played UNO and Isaah and Chad fished. We finally made to the marina, the kids loved the boat ride in, it felt like a ride at lagoon. We spent the night in the camp ground and then the next day headed out to water again.
The wind had stopped blowing so we were able to enjoy it more. We headed to a little area called Castle Rock. There were fish jumping like crazy and was a nice calm area. Isaah claimed he had a fish and started reeling in, then snap his line broke, but we found out that somehow all the line had completely come of his reel. That must have been the monster fish of powell. We played on the rocks and went to see the dam. While we were right in front of the dam Chad see's a man in the water and asks if he needs help. He did infact, we took him over to the shore, he had been trying to swim across with out a life jacket and couldn't make it to either shore and was extremely tired and just trying to tread water. After that we went up a beautiful canyon called Antelope Canyon then headed in for the day. It was alot of fun and we can't wait to go back when the water is just a little water.
Chad tried to get the kids to swim in a triangle from rock to rock to rock. They were all wimps except Talli. They did have a race from one rock to another, only if Chad swam right with them
In front of the dam. (Sorry the dam is so far away, someone wasn't happy about their picture being taken and this one had them in it)
The perfect hair do. We have always said we need to take him out before school each morning so he could have his hair done.
Chad hiking around having fun.
Playing on the beach. They dug holes, covered each other up with sand and just had fun.
Chad's fish he caught.
Couldn't resist this one of Talli
more fun in the sand
Nice warm fire, flushable toilets, and running water, nothing better than a good campground.
